I love the national health service don't get me wrong. I remember when I was a young boy I remember my mother being ill and us going there for checkups and all the doctors seemed very friendly and seemed like they could give you all the tie in the world.
However if you go there nowadays that's just not the case anymore. It always feels like you're being rushed! And if you have something wrong with you that isn't life threatening like bad skin and your back or something then they just don't care. I had a close friend that was having problems sleeping (the medical condition runs in his family) and he heard he could get a sleep study done with the national health service where he goes to a secure room and sleeps and they monitor his sleeping. Because no matter how much sleep he has he just can't seem to feel like he's had a good nights sleep. I said to him GO FOR IT! because this might really change your life my friend and if the national health service is doing them for free then you really have nothing to loose do you? So he gave the national health service a call and there was a waiting list that was nearly a year long! Now I know what you are going to say. Stop complaining its free! but that's the problem the national health service isn't free is it. We pay for it through taxation. And what also annoys me is that you have to miss out on cutting edge treatment because the UK national health service (NHS) also has to pay for treatment for alcoholics, and morbidly obese people AND chain smokers too! all these unhealthy people that CHOOSE to live this lifestyle are essentially depriving you of the best treatment your taxes can buy you. The NHS could be so much more than what it is. There is a healthy balance between a UK system and an american health care system. In the UK you can pick a health insurance broker from a list of so so many. And they will all help you get private health insurance from a health insurance provider that can make sure you get a GREAT level of cover because your treatment is PRIVATE. I can only imagine how people must feel when they are sitting there in hospital dying of cancer but knowing there are new drugs the NHS can';t afford then they look over and see some massive fat person having a gastric band that costs 30,000 pounds. I'm sorry but this situation just infuriates me. If you have damaged your body YOU should have to pay for it, not me and my family members. Anyways back to what I was saying. We need to strike a balance before its too late and the whole system just collapses. People have to start paying for their mistakes. I'm not saying we chuck them out on the street but if they can pay to repair their liver damage or their lungs then they should be made to.
